What do the boondock saints prayer mean

The Holy Book portrays prophets as shepherds who lead believers as sheep and bring them to God. We can see this analogy in many different verses of the Bible, like this one from John I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen.

I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. We can conclude that the first part of the invocation states the intention of those praying. This fragment is easy to analyze, especially after watching the movie. Those who chant these words are calling themselves mere instruments of God. And teeming with souls shall it ever be. These words show that sinners will know the true essence of God once their punishment comes.

It showcases their will to exert the force of God upon those who do wrong. Like the shepherd with the sheep, they shall bring them over to Him for judgment. Both in the Bible and the prayer, it is a clear sign of subjugation. In ancient times, people traditionally associated these terms with the goodness of honest merchants.

The powers which we receive from you will enable us to fulfill our duties ask of you. We shall rid the world of evil by sending them back to you, if it is in our power. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Many tend to believe that he was inspired by the book of Ezekiel which reads:. And I will strike down upon those with great vengeance and with furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.

And you will know that my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. The Boondock Saints movie has gained somewhat of a cult following and has become quite a popular movie to quote.

Though the characters in the movie use the verse as inspiration to kill those who commit evil acts. This is, in fact, a fictional movie and nowhere in the Bible does it say that anyone should do that. Boondock Saints prayer was written by the director of the film Troy Duffy and his father. He wrote the movie based on his experiences living in Los Angeles. The prayer emphasizes stress on getting rid of the evil and saving the world from the apocalypse.

The weaker should have a say in every situation. The prayer revolves around a familiar parameter, victory of good over evil. And shepherds we shall be. For thee, my Lord, for thee. Power hath descended forth from thy hand that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.

So we shall flow a river forth to thee and teeming with souls shall it ever be. E nomini patri, et Fili e spiritu sancti. The Boondock Saints prayer signifies that the shepherds of the people for God and their power was sent from his hand. They promise to follow his directions and send him the sinners.
